Full Featured DWG CAD with Parametric 3D Solid Modeling

nanoCAD Pro is based on nanoCAD Plus - full featured DWG CAD platform.
All functionality of nanoCAD Plus is included by default into nanoCAD Pro - drafting and design tools, a native DWG compatibility, an open API.
nanoCAD Pro adds to nanoCAD Plus functionality of parametric 3D solid modeling thanks to industry-proved 3D kernel with 2D and 3D constraints engine.

3D Solid Modeling

nanoCAD Pro 20 combines two approaches to 3D modeling - Parametric and Direct Modeling in a single modeling environment. 
  • Parametric Modeling involves engineers building up a 3D geometry piece by piece. 2D sketches turn into 3D features, with constraints and relations duly applied to fit the designer’s intent. The history of construction forms 3D History Tree. 3D History is a nanoCAD Inspector window with a specific set of tools. This approach is common for MCAD applications (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor). However, since each step follows from preceding steps, parametric design can require careful planning.
  • Direct Modeling offers designers a what-you-see-is-what-you-get approach to building and editing their models. In Direct Modeling, designers can push and pull on their model to change it. One benefit of this capability is the ease with which designs can be altered, enabling rapid iteration and prototyping.
    nanoCAD Pro combines this approach with traditional for DWG-based CAD 3D solids creation and editing of basic solid primitives (box, cylinder, cone, sphere, pyramid, wedge, torus, polysolid).

2D and 3D Constraints

User can set constraints and relations on objects in the drawing to control drawings objects via parameters.

It is possible to set relations between objects in the drawings and constraints on their parameters: co-axis, fixed dimension, parallel, tangent, etc. Thus, a 'living' drawing can be created with ability to change itself according to the set of rules.

Parameter Manager allows to link dimensions and constraints by means of mathematical equations. Changes in the  numeric values will immediately affects the drawing and the drawing will be dynamically changed in accordance with predetermined rules.

In addition to 2D constraints there are 3D constraints operating on geometry of objects in space. Using this tool designers can link 3D objects within one file, thereby providing the ability to create complex 3D assemblies. Applied constraints are displayed in the 3D History tree for each correspondent solid.

Model exchange via Import/Export

nanoCAD Pro can exchange 3D models with most of engineering CAD and export models to 3D printers and web-based model viewers. 
Besides DWG, DXF and DGN files, common for all nanoCAD products, nanoCAD Pro can import and export:
  • STL for stereolithography; 
  • Parasolid X_T, X_B for NX, Solid Edge, SolidWorks; 
  • JT, IGES, STEP - standard engineering data exchange formats; 
  • SAT, C3D - ACIS and C3D modellers' formats; 
  • VRML for 3D graphics on the web; 
  • COLLADA for interactive 3D applications.

Dynamic Data Input

With the help of dynamic input, you can set dimensions and parameters of the primitives in the workspace, without need to use a command line.
Dynamic input is available both for creating and editing elements, which greatly simplifies the work with the drawing.

Tools Palettes

New tool palettes allow users to add standard blocks quickly and to invoke frequently used commands. If standard elements are not enough, you can create tool palette with your own sets of blocks, hatch patterns and scripts to load them in one click.

Document Sets

In nanoCAD Pro it is possible "on the fly" to create sets (filing) of documentation of any size in the form familiar for engineers. It allows to centrally manage hundreds of drawings in different files, and to use auto-numbering to avoid wasting time for sorting of sheets.

IFC Support

nanoCAD Pro can import IFC files into a DWG document. It is possible to perform numerous operations on imported BIM objects, such as to compile reports on models created in BIM-systems.
Add to this an updated tools for 3D navigation in parallel and perspective projection, adaptive zoom, camera and observer head rotation, accelerated performance in saturated 3D models - and you will get a universal IFC-viewer based on DWG and BIM-models.

Compatibility with Other Solutions

nanoCAD Pro preserves information about proxy objects created in other CAD systems without changing the DWG file, which allows transferring data between nanoCAD Pro and third-party CAD without restrictions and creates a unified technological chain.
Also, nanoCAD Pro supports 3D display of 3D objects (polygonal and triangular surfaces, solid boundaries). In this case, you can create drawings containing 3D objects without the need of an additional application.

Familiar User Interface

User interface and principles of operation of nanoCAD almost do not differ from widely known CAD systems, therefore any designer can master the program in the shortest possible time. Menus, ribbon, icons, panels and command line are easily recognizable, so there is almost no need for re-training.
For convenience, nanoCAD Pro contains several visual themes, including dark (graphite), which greatly reduces the burden on the eyes for long periods of usage. A new visual interface editor can customize almost every element of the program, and also transfer these settings from one workstation to another.
nanoCAD Pro implements principles of the dynamic interface - the program adapts to the user's actions and offers the most expected functions. In particular, dynamic information entry serves to add and edit data directly in the working area of the document next to the cursor, and dynamic prompts help you navigate in sizes, coordinates, angles and other parameters

Direct DWG Format Support

nanoCAD Pro directly works with DWG - the most popular format of engineering documentation. A wide range of supported versions (from DWG R11 to DWG 2018) is possible to use without conversions and data loss. to transfer between nanoCAD and other CAD systems to provide a unified process chain. The nanoCAD Pro system is one of the few platforms on the CAD market that offers full support for the DWG format and everything related to it. In nanoCAD Pro, you can work in virtual models and spaces, use customizable viewports, external links (XREF), block libraries and typical tool settings, as well as built-in tools for automatically saving and restoring drawings, creating backup copies of files and much more. In addition to the "classic" utilities for the DWG format, nanoCAD Pro offers a number of unique ones:
  • utilities for deleting and exploding proxy objects into primitives in order to find “stuck” proxy objects and remove them from the graphical database; 
  • automatic drawing correction utility to correct damaged data: for example, objects scattered along the Z-coordinate can automatically return to the working plane of the drawing, which improves the processing speed and quality of work;
  • drawing manager, which displays tree view of the entire internal structure of DWG file and allows to browse file content, but also to quickly find them in the drawing, select, zoom in and, for example, delete them; 
  • utility to change the encoding of text entities. It corrects DWG-files in which the names of layers, blocks, line types, etc became unreadable due to the code page lost.

Engineering Drawing Tool

The nanoCAD Pro contains all the necessary basic design tools and allows you to:
  • Create and edit various 2D and 3D vector entities, texts, drawing design elements, display settings and technical documentation printing; 
  • Create and use any kinds of tables and specifications based on block attributes; 
  • Working environment set up according to various standards; 
  • View, create and edit 3D surface objects and setup create coordinate systems for editing 3D objects; 
  • Effectively share technical information and drawings with designers working in other CAD systems, thanks to the full support of the DWG format; 
  • Use raster images (scanned drawings, texts, tables, photographs) in the design; 
  • Print technical documents on any printing devices, including non-standard paper size.

Effective and Unique Features

If in “classic” CAD systems, monochrome raster underlays are non-editable background images, in nanoCAD Pro, they are full-fledged objects that can not only be stitched “as is”, but also can be modified. The Paste (as a raster) command instantly adds raster images to the nanoCAD Pro environment from any external source - the Internet, a graphic editor, a workflow system or any other application.
In addition, nanoCAD Pro provides unique capabilities for working with monochrome and color raster images: the Raster menu contains basic editing tools (Eraser, Pencil, Fill) and fixes for the raster image (Deskew, Image Rotate, Four-point correction).
For example, if you select any vector command (Line, Polyline, Dimension) and hover over a bitmap image, nanoCAD Pro will immediately catch all the snappings (End Point, Nearest, Center or Quadrant of a circle).
Finally, a hybrid document with an edited underlay can be printed out in various formats (directly to a printer / plotter), saved in PLT format, exported to PDF or rasterized into an uneditable DWG file. 

Add-ons Development ( .NET, C ++, JS, VBS and LISP open APIs)

nanoCAD Pro, like most of CAD platforms, offers a programming interface (API) for developing third-party applications and add-ons. Well-built architecture of the API allows to create applications of any complexity. For quick creation of utilities and small applications, developer can use scripts based on ActiveX Automation (JS, VBS, etc.), or he can use LISP and DCL. More complex and feature-rich add-ons are usually developed in .NET or C ++. The Nanosoft supports and actively develops the nanoCAD Developer Club, whose members get access to the following types of APIs:
  • .NET API - API for developing .NET applications;
  • NRX - the classic C ++ API for creating and migrating applications in C ++;
  • MultiCAD API - a unique C ++ API for writing cross-platform CAD applications;
  • MultiCAD.NET API (alpha) is the alpha version of the cross-platform .NET API for creating custom primitives on .NET.
